30 Things about me

1) Philosophy
I'm in love with philosophy. It serves as a fundamental basis of every field. As I delve into this subject, I'm marveled at how mathematics and physics are integrated with philosophy. The picture is that of Wittgenstein, my favorite philosopher. I love how he criticizes the contemporary civilization and attacks the obstinate reverence towards science and mathematics. I think his thoughts will complement my performance at physics field later on.

2) Cello

Ever since I hurt my back and can't play basketball, playing the cello has become my primary hobby. I played cello since I was 11 - so now it has been 8 years since I began to learn it. My mom initially suggested violin, but I rejected since the violin sounded so terrible. I feel comfortable whenever I play cello. Its low, thick sound soothes my mind. I play at KMLA orchestra as a principal player. Currently I'm working on Edouard Lalo's cello concerto to participate in Gangwon State Concour.

3) Basketball
I've been playing basketball since I was 12. Our middle school basketball team won Daejeon state championship. I don't play basketball nowadays as I hurt my back. Crossover is good enough, but sometimes I miss my middle school's team. They had better team work.

4) Physics
My father majored in physics and perhaps it made me have interest in physics. I'm planning to major in physics in future. My dream is to interpret the philosophical implication of the results of quantum mechanics.

5) Daejeon

Daejeon is very tranquil, pastoral city. Nothing happens there and it's very boring place to live in. Many technicians and scientists dwell there and maybe that is why.

6) Overwatch
I began playing Overwatch last winter vacation. Actually it was the first online game in my life. My favorite champion is Junkrat. Recently I played it with Wonjae and Jinwu during Sulnal vacation.

7) Soksakim

I'm a vice president of Soksakim. We conduct anonymous counselling by using kakaotalk and receive mentoring from the professional counselor.

8) Conservatism

In philosophy, just like in politics, there are two major stances, conservatism and progressivism. I'm on the former's side, which believes the existence of transcendental, metaphysical concepts such as god, freedom, etc.

9) Taeyeon

Taeyeon is my favorite artist. She is the member of SNSD, one of the oldest existing girl group. Her voice refreshes me whenever I'm in a bad mood. I really admire her because she achieved her dream by endeavoring so hard since she was very young - younger than me. She made her debut in 2007, when she was at my age, and it has been 10 years since then.

10) Lofi hiphop
I listen to lofi hiphop nowadays. Its somewhat gloomy mood makes me tranquil. I always turn lofi music during the self study periods. It feels nice to turn off the light and to listen to this song in the room, alone. By the way, I think this school doesn't allow people to have their own time, own place.

11) Pokemon
I devoted my middle school life to Pokemon. Some light users think raising pokemon and fighting is boring, but in fact, pokemon consists of plenty of complex systems. I used to upload lectures to my naver blog about how to raise and use each pokemons in Nintendo battle. My favorite one is Togekiss.

12) LeBron James

LeBron James is my favorite athlete. His height is 203cm and his weight is 113kg, with body fat percentage 4%. He is called to be the second greatest player after Michael Jordan. I agree that MJ is all time best, but I prefer LeBron's powerful and shrewd plays. I have always admired his physical ability, so when I was young I tried to play like him. When I was in the middle school, I practiced fancy lay ups for an hour almost everyday, and it became my specialty.

13) Swimming

I used to swim since I was 8. I really admired Park Taewhan when I was young, but unfortunately he screwed up his career by doing drug. I once was in the swimming club, and at first I was kind of disappointed because what I did there was fin swimming, not the genuine swimming. But I got used to it, and it was quite cool experience. The speed was overwhelming and it really felt like being a dolphin.

14) Abercrombie

I hate stuffy clothes like jeans or dress shirts. So I prefer casual brands, and abercrombie is one of my favorite. 2/3 of my t shirts are abercrombie and I always wear the green hoodie in the dorm, which became one of my identity.

15) Hanna Chang - Shostacovich Cello Concerto No.1

Hanna Chang is Korean-American cellist, and she is one of the best cello players in the world. Among her many works, my favorite one is Shostacovich concerto. Shostacovich is a contemporary composer, and I love his sarcastic, cold, gloomy musics. Baroque artists like Mozart and Beethoven are too romantic, idle, and boring. Everyone should listen to Shostacovich and Prokofiev.

16) I share a name with a famous singer.
There's a singer who has a same name as mine. He's quite famous, so whenever I meet new people they ask me whether I sing well just like him. I consider that question very dumb since just because I share a name with a famous singer doesn't imply my good singing skill in anyway. (Besides, I really suck at singing) When I was young, I really wanted to meet him since it felt weird to share a name with a celebrity.

17) Lenovo

I use Lenovo laptop, which is quite unusual species in KMLA. I guess only Dongwook and I use Lenovo Thinkpad in our school. I bought it because of its smooth keyboard. And now I regret my choice because I cannot play any games with this computer because of its poor specification.

18) Gomoku

I'm a professional gomoku player. Gomoku is such a simple game in which you have to align five stones on the grid paper before your opponent does. It might look simple, but there are plenty of complicated strategies to block opponent's stones and create more attack opportunities. When I was in the middle school, gomoku battle was held every break time and I used to be a champion of my grade.

19) Fine dusts

I "abhor" fine dusts. I have almost every allergies that one human can have, and whenever fine dusts concentration is high, my body barely functions. I'm really looking forward to live in clean, pastoral rural area in Switzerland or Australia after retirement.

20) Geometry
I wanted to go to science high school before I decided to go to KMLA when I was 9th grader. I prepared for entrance mathematics exam quite hard, and among all the mathematics fields, I loved geometry. Algebra, discrete mathematics, and number theory were not intuitive and hard to imagine in my mind. On the other hand, in case of geometry, I could draw a figure and speculate what would happen in that space. My favorite problems were construction problems. Construction is an astonishing tool for deductive geometry - we can even solve simple quadratic equations by construction.

21) Friendship
I find getting close to new friends really hard. I don't willingly approach to new people to become friends. But after I become friends with someone, I really consider him/her as my side and treat quite well (I guess).

22) Hiphop
I don't like Korean hiphop. They don't have the "context" that genuine American hiphop has. In my perspective, Korean rappers haven't really gone through hardships that traditional American rappers had underwent. Rather, in most of the cases, Korean rappers have grown up well, and I find it quite hypocritical to rap on all the hardships, agonies, and tragedies they haven't really experienced.

23) I dream every night

I once read 기영's post on facebook and astonished that he don't dream. I always dream and remember the content very clearly. And I do lots of sleeptalk. Last year, during the exam season, I had to memorize a Chinese song "想汝的夜" and my roommate 진우 told me that I sang that song while I slept.

24)"Daily German Idealism"
I manage the facebook page "Daily German Idealism". I upload short notes on german idealism philosophers' thoughts. It has been a while since I uploaded the last post because of APs.
